5 Sites That Have Royalty-Free Images For Free

Did you know that copying images from the web is illegal? This could potentially land you in big legal problems.

I felt the need to write this article because I see many new business owners copying images from all over the internet and that can land them in legal issues. Getting into legal issues will certainly affect the bottom line in your business and as a business coach, I felt the need to spread the word about this. Here is a case where a blogger was fined $8K for using a copyrighted image on their site.

What is Royalty Free?

Royalty-free essentially means that you can buy the license (right to use it) once and use the photo various times because you have the rights now. Read more on that here. Each site has specifications as to the rights that they give you with the image. Some may allow you to use the image only as is and others will require you to modify the image. Just because its Royalty Free does not mean that the pictures are actually free for you to download.

As a side note copyright refers to the rights to property and copywriting refers to writing for as a form of advertising for your business.

Some websites give you access to Royalty Free images with a paid membership, others charge you per download. But there are a few that are totally free to download so I wanted to give you these resources.

  1. Morguefile
  2. Stock Free Images
  3. Unsplash
  4. Gratisography
  5. Free Range Stock

In summary, the best practice is to download royalty free images or to use your own in order to avoid copyright infringement. There are plenty of sites that have free downloadable royalty-free images so if you are not ready to hire a professional photographer to do your images (yet anyways!). There are also some beautiful images that you can get through some of the paid sites as well. But again, not an essential to growing your business and spreading your message when you are starting out.

As a mompreneur, you want to invest in the things that will make you money in your business. That’s why I created a downloadable resource guide with 7 additional sites that have free downloadable royalty free images. Check out the resource guide here (no opt-in <3)
